Nicholas Sparks

I'm not generally a Nicholas Sparks fan, but his book, Three Weeks with My Brother is both a travelog and family portrait of the author, his brother, and sister growing up in Los Angeles and fast-forward to their three week around the world excursion to faraway and exotic places, like Easter Island and Lima Peru. It's a story of reconnecting with siblings and the importance of family.
