Greg Mortenson's non-fictional book by the same name follows the alpiner after his failed attempt at K-2, the second largest mountain in the world at 8311 meters; under heavy criticism and doubt in a post 9/11 world he has built over 60 schools for the Sunni Muslim girls in Pakistan just below the Kamakoram Mountain range in remote villages with the help of his non-profit agency, the Central Asian Institute.
