Dialogue

Dialogue is the clearest way of signaling a change in a relationship. Characters must have a reason to say what they say--something beyond the writer's need to convey information. Avoid trendy speech in dialogue. Writing dialogue can be fun; you get to say anything you want under the guise of your characters.
