About Keith's Industry Knowledge
Keith knows agents, he knows how to write a query letter, he can help you “pitch” your book or story to agents, he subscribes to Writer's Digest and to Writer's Market and is familiar with contests and what is selling in fiction today. He is a member of Mystery Writers of America and attends local chapter meetings in Houston.
About Keith's Coaching Style
Keith’s coaching style is very personal, not like a critique partner. He absorbs your ideas and asks powerful questions that may extend your story, provide more tension, more depth, more intrigue, suggest a “hook” for drawing the reader into your story and to keep them turning the pages. Keith does extensive personal and Internet research before he sits down to write. He has either lived in or visited the places in each of his books. He wants his facts to be correct to those living in the area so that the story becomes real to them. Keith will show you how to use the Internet to do research for your book.
The Emotion and Intellectual Support You Will Need
Keith is an avid reader and knows what agents and publishers are seeking from first-time authors. Keith can also help you with your myriad of rejection letters that you will undoubtedly receive from agents and how to “hone in” your inquiries to the right agent who may be looking for new talent. While Keith can not promise you a successful contract, he can provide you the practical support you will need as you navigate your emotions and intellect from “birthing your baby” to keeping on a writing schedule to bring your story to completion.
